For remote employees of established overseas companies.
A 10-year Thailand visa run by the Board of Investment: an initial 5-year stay, renewable for a further 5 years if qualifications are maintained.
Requirements
- Average personal income of at least USD 80,000/year over the past two years, or USD 40,000–80,000/year with a master's degree or higher, full ownership of intellectual property, or Series A funding of at least USD 1,000,000
- An employment contract with a company listed on a stock exchange, a private company with at least 3 years of operation and combined revenue of USD 50 million over the last 3 years, or a wholly owned subsidiary of either
Benefits
- Health cover: health insurance of at least USD 50,000 with at least 10 months of cover remaining (travel insurance and life-only policies are not accepted), OR current Thai social security benefits, OR at least USD 100,000 held in your own bank account for 12 months or more
- A 10-year visa (5 years, renewable for another 5)
- Annual reporting instead of the standard 90-day reporting
- Multiple re-entry built in, no separate re-entry permit needed
- Fast-track service at international airports
- Spouse and children under 20 may join as dependants, up to 4 in total
Additional considerations
- Under Royal Decree No. 743, income from overseas employment, business or property earned in a previous tax year and brought into Thailand is exempt from Thai personal income tax, subject to Revenue Department conditions
- No standard Thai work permit, since employment stays with the overseas employer
