A 10-year Thailand visa run by the Board of Investment: an initial 5-year stay, renewable for a further 5 years if qualifications are maintained.
Requirements
- USD 80,000/year income, or USD 40,000–80,000 combined with a qualifying master's degree, owned intellectual property, or Series A funding of USD 1,000,000 or more
- Employer must be a listed public company, or a private company operating 3+ years with USD 50 million+ revenue, or a subsidiary of either
Benefits
- Health insurance backstop: USD 50,000 cover with at least 10 months remaining, OR Thai social security, OR a USD 100,000 bank deposit held for 12 months
- A 10-year visa (5 years, renewable for another 5)
- Annual reporting instead of the standard 90-day reporting
- Multiple re-entry built in, no separate re-entry permit needed
- Fast-track service at international airports
- Spouse and children under 20 may join as dependants, up to 4 in total
Additional considerations
- Foreign-sourced income is exempt from Thai tax if brought into Thailand the year after it was earned
- No standard Thai work permit, since employment stays with the overseas employer
